From the vantage point of a voyeur or “part of the pack”, I paint intimate moments shared by women at work in a marginalized, yet glorified, occupation. With vulnerability and strength, these women shed light on the humanity, camaraderie, and beauty that exists in “dark” places and in “off-limits” spaces. In my depictions of a world where time is money and women are capable of manipulating it, I illustrate a sense of time by integrating figures from art history and introducing elements that push the mystery of the otherworldly; transforming candid, familiar, and mundane moments into extraordinary experiences.
